Wales Is Putting Toddlers on Government Watchlists for Racism — And Spending £1.3 Million to Do It

Wales — the country that once helped build the British Empire — is now spending taxpayer money to have nursery workers narc on two-year-olds for suspected racism. Government-backed guidance sent to over 300 nurseries across Wales instructs daycare staff to assess whether a toddler's playground behavior constitutes a "hate crime" and, if so, to call 999 — the UK's emergency number — to report it to police.

You read that correctly. A child who can barely say the word "racist" can now be reported as one.

The guidance, originally reported by The Telegraph and covered by Louder With Crowder, was developed by an organization called the Diversity and Anti-Racist Professional Learning group — DARPL for short — which has received more than £1.3 million in Welsh Government funding since 2021. The toolkit is part of a broader initiative launched in 2024 to transform Wales into an "anti-racist nation" by 2030. Because apparently the biggest threat to Welsh society isn't crumbling infrastructure or energy costs — it's a three-year-old who grabbed the wrong crayon.

The guidelines require nursery workers to keep detailed records of incidents and categorize them as "adult to child," "systemic racism," "adult to adult," or — and I wish I were making this up — "child to child." If the worker determines the incident rises to the level of a hate crime, they're told to dial 999. For non-emergencies, there's always 101. You know, the number you'd normally call to report a noise complaint. Now it's for reporting toddlers.

But it doesn't stop at snitching on babies. Staff are also required to evaluate their own "unconscious biases" and understanding of "white privilege." The guidelines mandate that childcare spaces include diverse books, dolls, posters, and snacks that reflect an "anti-racist" environment. There's even a section noting that "toileting practices vary across cultures" and that different methods "does not make them unsanitary or incorrect." So they've managed to make potty training political. Congratulations, Wales.

Former Welsh Mental Health and Early Years leader Jayne Briant praised these efforts at a 2024 conference, because of course she did. When your job title sounds like it was generated by a government bureaucracy AI, you're contractually obligated to applaud anything with "equity" in the mission statement.

Let's be real about what's happening here. This isn't about protecting children from racism. A two-year-old doesn't have the cognitive capacity to be a bigot. They don't even have the cognitive capacity to tie their shoes. This is about conditioning an entire generation to accept surveillance as normal — to grow up in a world where the government is always watching, always recording, and always ready to label you before you're old enough to read your own label.

And we're supposed to believe this can't happen here? The same ideology driving this Welsh guidance has already infected American universities, corporate HR departments, and K-12 curricula. The difference is they haven't started calling 911 on American toddlers yet. Yet.

The UK went from ruling a quarter of the globe to policing the finger-painting habits of children who still believe in the Tooth Fairy. That's not progress. That's a civilization writing its own obituary in crayon.
