Democrat Governor Tim Walz — a man whose entire political career has been one long exercise in stolen valor and couch-sitting — decided to hop on social media and call House Majority Leader Steve Scalise a "boot licker." Steve Scalise. The guy who was literally shot by a leftist gunman at a congressional baseball practice in 2017 and still walks with the consequences.
Of all the Republicans in America you could pick a fight with, Timmy, you chose the one with actual bullet scars. Stunning bravery.
Here's what happened. Scalise posted a lighthearted photo with House Majority Whip Tom Emmer, both of them wearing walking boots — Scalise's a permanent reminder of what happens when a deranged Bernie Sanders supporter named James T. Hodgkinson opens fire on unarmed congressmen at a baseball diamond. Emmer apparently had his own foot issue. Two guys in boots. Funny photo. Normal human moment.
Walz saw the photo and fired off a post on May 14th: "The House Boot Licker Caucus is officially up and running." Get it? Boots? Boot lickers? Comedy gold from Minnesota's least funny export since Garrison Keillor.
Let's talk about what makes this so perfectly on-brand for Tim Walz.
This is a man who inflated his military rank, abandoned his National Guard unit before deployment, hid in the governor's mansion during the Minneapolis riots while the city burned, and then ran for vice president on a platform of "we're the tough guys." He lost. Badly. And in January 2026, he announced he'd never run for office again — which was the first honest thing he'd said in years.
So now he's a lame duck with a Twitter account, and apparently the only thing keeping him busy is mocking shooting survivors from the safety of his phone.
Let's remember what actually happened in 2017, since Walz seems to have forgotten. Hodgkinson, a left-wing activist, showed up to a Republican baseball practice with a rifle and a hit list. He opened fire on unarmed members of Congress. U.S. Capitol Police officers on Scalise's security detail engaged the shooter and stopped what would have been a massacre. Scalise nearly died. He spent months in the hospital. He still deals with the physical damage to this day.
That's the man Tim Walz called a boot licker.
You know what takes real courage? Walking back onto a baseball field after someone tried to kill you on one. You know what doesn't take courage? Tweeting insults at that person from a state where you tanked so hard your own party won't return your calls.
As Twitchy reported, the response to Walz's post was immediate and brutal. Because normal people — even people who disagree with Scalise on policy — understand that mocking a shooting victim's injuries is the kind of thing that only a deeply unserious person would do.
But that's Tim Walz in a nutshell. The guy who talks tough from the couch, throws punches from behind a screen, and runs from every real fight he's ever faced.
Enjoy retirement, Governor. You earned it.
