Liberals Jump Ship After Top Company Won’t Go Woke

In recent years, Americans have become increasingly tired of companies embracing politics. From Hollywood to professional sports to even shaving companies, major businesses have decided to exploit their relationship with the public to push a political agenda.

Rarely is it an agenda that most Americans agree with.

Companies from all backgrounds have tried to push “woke” views onto the public, in a seeming attempt to influence the way you think (and eventually vote). It never occurs to the very rich liberals who run these companies that Americans aren’t interested in knowing their opinions on politics. This trend has often damaged companies’ reputations so much, that they have lost customers. That has led to the phrase, “go woke go broke.”

In the land of tech companies, this wokeness is everywhere. Most Silicon Valley companies are open about their leftist views; some are even aggressive about it. That includes big players like Apple and Facebook, to startups and other providers.

Recently, only well-known company announced to its employees that they do not want politics to be pushed or discussed at work. This is what many of them did in response.

About one-third of employees at software company Basecamp quit days after bosses told them to keep ideology out of the workplace and focus on the company’s actual business.

“We make project management, team communication, and email software,” CEO Jason Fried wrote April 26. We don’t have to solve deep social problems, chime in publicly whenever the world requests our opinion on the major issues of the day, or get behind one movement or another with time or treasure. These are all important topics, but they’re not our topics at work.” …

It seems like the problems began when a new employee started to push wokeness soon after starting. Apparently, they were offended by a joke list employees circulated around work of funny names. As we all know, humor and joy are hated by the Woke Gestapo and this new employee wanted to stamp out fun and enjoyment among the workforce.

After all, wokeness is just a modern front for miserly Soviet-minded socialists. They can’t allow the workers to be cheerful and enjoy their jobs. Most woke advocates transform healthy companies into miserable places where people fear making even the mildest comments, for fear of being “canceled.”

Seeing their company about to turn into another Communist labor camp, the owners put an end to this spread of wokeness. That so offended these apparent activists, that they walked out.

These employees would rather lose their jobs, than be forced to keep their leftist opinions to themselves. One claimed that the company was saying “well, your opinions don’t really matter.” Uh, yeah, they don’t. When you go to work, you have work to do. Your opinions about politics have no bearing on developing and maintain software used by millions around the world.

The employees that quit are typical of the radical left, including those in government. They want to force their will on everyone. They don’t really care that their views are toxic, un-American, and detrimental to our well-being. Other opinions, including good ones, don’t matter. If you cross their paths, they’ll go to war.

But hopefully, more companies will learn from Basecamp and be willing to part with a few bad apples, to stand against wokeness.
