Florida Gov Takes Mandate Battle to the Front Lines, Suing the Feds

Does anyone still fear COVID? It seems like, after the Omicron outbreak, everyone ended up getting it. And they realized all the fearmongering, mandates, and vaccine requirements were either totally unnecessary or no longer needed. Even liberal states have rolled back most requirements. You’re more likely to see a mask in the garbage than on someone’s face, at least in most places. Yet the federal government is still pushing these ridiculous mandates, even while on a plane.

That’s not good enough for Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis. He successfully removed all COVID restrictions way back in May of 2020. And the state faired just as well as those with heavy restrictions. In fact, Florida did much better than similarly sized states, because the governor focused on protecting the most vulnerable. Now, he is going after the federal government’s lingering tyranny.

Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis (R) and Florida Attorney General Ashley Moody (R) announced on Tuesday a lawsuit over the Biden administration’s extended mask mandate on planes and transportation hubs, noting that the rule is not grounded in science…

“This rule, this order is completely outside the bounds of the scope of federal power as we have argued successfully in numerous other cases, the CDC and the federal government and the Biden administration never had the power to issue this order originally,” she continued, noting that many do not realize that this “unlawful order” carries “not just civil penalties, but criminal penalties” as well…

“It’s not something that’s grounded in any science because if you have somebody sitting in the window seat and they’re nibbling on peanuts for two and a half hours, they can have their mask down. You have the person in the middle seat that is not eating, if they just wanted to read a magazine without the mask, somehow that would be a big problem.” [Source: Breitbart]

DeSantis is calling out the shady reasoning for these mask mandates. That’s something we’ve all done quite a while ago. Oh, I have to wear my mask while walking around restaurant, but I can take it off to eat? It seems painfully obvious that the federal slapped together these rules way back during the pandemic, just to make it look like they were doing something. All the while, the CDC knew that no amount of lockdowns or masks was going to stop a disease so contagious.

Yet they had no problem eroding our constitutional liberties, just to save face. Even passing rules that carry with them criminal penalties.

Let’s hope this lawsuit ends this nonsense once and for all.
