Democrats are typically known for standing by their allies, even when faced with controversy. But when they smell blood in the water, with a scandal they can’t hide, it’s every man for himself. We are seeing that happen right now in New York State, as every last Democrat turns on Gov. Andrew Cuomo.
Cuomo’s star was rising early in 2020, when the media made him out to be some kind of hero of the pandemic. Despite the fact that all the help was coming from Donald Trump, the left worshiped Cuomo—some even hoped he’d run for president.
But all that goodwill has soured, after a scandal Cuomo tried to hide came back to burn him. A top aide revealed they lied about nursing home deaths, triggering a federal investigation. Democrats in the state are demanding to strip Cuomo of his emergency powers. Now, more accusations are coming out against the embattled governor—tarnishing his reputation.
And a man that should be defending him, just threw him under the bus.
New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio (D) said he believes New York State Assemblyman Ron Kim’s (D) claim that Gov. Andrew Cuomo (D) threatened him over Kim’s statements on nursing homes and that such behavior is “classic Andrew Cuomo” and that he’s heard such behavior from Cuomo numerous times…
“A lot of people in New York State have received those phone calls. The bullying is nothing new. I believe Ron Kim, and it’s very, very sad. No public servant, no person who’s telling the truth should be treated that way. But yeah, the threats, the belittling, the demand that someone changed their statement right that moment, many, many times, I’ve heard that and I know a lot of other people in this state have heard that.” [Source: Breitbart]
If you needed proof Democrats were turning on Cuomo, this is it. New York Mayor Bill de Blasio is one of the biggest idiots in politics. His “leadership” during the pandemic was pathetic and non-existent. As New Yorkers suffered from prolonged lockdowns and riots, he was seen painting “Black Lives Matter” in front of Trump Tower.
His idea of helping New Yorkers was to set up a call line to get neighbors to snitch on each other. As cases mounted and deaths rose, de Blasio did nothing.
For him to now be turning on the governor is just a desperate attempt by de Blasio to save his own skin. He knows the city is a mess thanks to his poor decisions. But because the heat is on Cuomo at the moment, he’s piling on to keep the media distracted.
Make no mistake, all New York Democrats are terrible. They put their power and prestige over the needs of residents. They promise the world, but deliver very little. They are all turning on Cuomo, hoping he’d be a scapegoat for the rest of them. Punish the big guy and maybe we’ll all live to fight another day.
But Cuomo didn’t commit this scandal in a bubble. And if he’s exposed for wrongdoing, many more will be as well.
