Americans were outraged when failing Joe Biden announced he would force private companies to require vaccines. Although he has yet to sign an order to implement it, numerous groups have already been following his lead.
Democrat-run states have been pushing mandates for various employees. They’ve been met with fierce backlash, including lawsuits. The same can be said for private companies that have tried to fire people who refuse to get the jab.
In crime-infesting Chicago, the mayor was mandating all city employees get vaccinated. That includes their already spread thin police officers. If they do not get vaccinated, they will be put on “unpaid leave” which would lead to firing. But the police union is taking a stand.
Chicago Fraternal Order of Police (FOP) President John Catanzara posted a video instructing police officers on how to go against the city’s vaccine mandate…
Catanzara reportedly said that officers shouldn’t “fill out the portal information,” but should input requests for exemptions on Thursday…
“I’ve made my status very clear as far as the vaccine, but I do not believe the city has the authority to mandate that to anybody, let alone that information about your medical history,” Catanzara said in the video, later adding, “Hold the line.”
“It’s safe to say that the city of Chicago will have a police force at 50% or less for this weekend coming up,” he noted. [Source: Daily Wire]
The union president announced they have a class-action grievance already drafted. They are ready to hammer the city for “everything under the sun” that the city might do to cops over this mandate. The union head is urging cops to refuse to fill out the documentation the city is requiring and instead file for exemptions.
He slammed the city for not only requiring vaccines, but trying to pry into workers’ private medical history. If the police union members follow Catanzara’s instructions, a large number of cops will be forced out of work soon. How is Chicago going to survive with only 50% of its police force?
The city is already overrun with crime, thanks to its corrupt, liberal leadership. The only thing holding it together are the few cops still on the force. If half of them are forced out because of a stupid vaccine, the mayor will really be in trouble.
It seems like the union is playing a risky game of chicken with the city. Who is going to blink first? My guess, the city will not budge over its mandate. Democrats have hell-bent on exploiting COVID for every last drop of power they can get. It’s an obsession with them at this point. First it was lockdowns. Then it was masks. Now it is the vaccine.
The only way this will be resolved is in court. Don’t be surprised if it gets that far.
