An 18-year-old British finance student named Henry Nowak was stabbed four times with an 8-inch ceremonial knife, and when police arrived, they didn't treat his wounds. They didn't chase the attacker. They handcuffed Henry — because the man who stabbed him claimed Henry had been racially abusive.
Cause of death: sensitivity training.
According to Not the Bee, Nowak was walking home from a night out when he was attacked by 23-year-old Vikrum Digwa, who was carrying a Shastar — an 8-inch ceremonial Sikh knife that Sikhs in Britain are legally permitted to carry under a religious exemption. Digwa stabbed Nowak four times, including twice in the back of his legs and once in his lung.
Digwa was caught on camera before the attack saying, "I am a bad man." Not exactly the words of someone acting in self-defense.
But here's where the story goes from tragic to criminally insane. When police arrived at the scene, Digwa told them that Nowak had racially abused him. And instead of looking at the 18-year-old kid bleeding out on the ground and thinking "maybe we should stop the bleeding," the officers slapped handcuffs on the victim.
Let that sink in. A teenager with four stab wounds — including a punctured lung — was treated as the suspect.
Nowak, desperate and bleeding, reportedly tried to climb a fence to get away. He lost consciousness before police even attempted first aid. A doctor was eventually flown in by helicopter, but as prosecutor Mr. Lobbenberg told the court, "there was nothing that could be done to save Henry and he was pronounced dead at 12:37 on the street."
Dead at 12:37. On the street. While his hands were cuffed.
And it gets worse. Digwa's mother, 53-year-old Kiran Kaur, showed up and removed the Shastar blade from the scene and hid it. She's been charged with assisting an offender. Digwa himself reportedly told his brother after the attack, "He stabbed Henry three times" — referring to himself in the third person, apparently because even murderers need a little dramatic flair in Britain.
Digwa has been charged with murder.
This is what happens when a country decides that the worst thing you can be isn't a murderer — it's a racist. The police had a bleeding teenager on the ground and an accusation of racism in the air, and they knew which one their department would punish them for ignoring. Not the bleeding. The accusation.
We've been watching Britain slide into this insanity for years. The grooming gangs that police ignored for decades because they didn't want to appear Islamophobic. The hate speech arrests for Facebook posts. The knife crime epidemic they refuse to connect to their own immigration policies. And now this — an 18-year-old kid bled to death on a British street because the cops were more afraid of being called racist than of letting someone die.
Henry Nowak was 18 years old. He was a finance student. He had his entire life ahead of him. And the system that was supposed to protect him decided that his attacker's feelings mattered more than his life.
