The Biden-Harris administration is under fire. From the very start, they’ve been accused of playing fast and loose with the law. Red states have taken them to court countless times, even dragging them up to the Supreme Court in attempts to rein in what they see as blatant disregard for border control laws.
This has never been more seen than over the border. With an estimated 10 million undocumented immigrants crossing the border, many argue that Biden and Harris are practically ignoring the law, leaving states to pick up the pieces. And now, there’s a new twist.
In their latest move, Biden’s administration has done something that has many Americans shaking their heads. If this doesn’t prove they are breaking the law, you are dreaming. And voters will have to ask if Kamala Harris will continue this shocking policy, using taxpayer dollars to do it.
The Biden-Harris administration’s Department of Homeland Security has squandered taxpayer funds to erect billboards in Texas offering legal assistance to detained illegal immigrants.
A DHS source tipped off Fox News Digital about the billboards last week.

News of these billboards broke thanks to a DHS source, who tipped off Fox News Digital. The billboards, which have been popping up in Texas, say things like, “Your brother in immigration custody has rights,” followed by, “We’re here to help.”
They’re funded by none other than the Department of Homeland Security’s own Office of the Immigration Detention Ombudsman, an independent DHS office that is supposed to handle complaints about immigration detention standards or misconduct by DHS personnel.
The decision to put up these billboards hasn’t gone over well — not with ICE, not with Border Patrol, and certainly not with Texas lawmakers. Border Patrol agents and ICE officers feel like these ads are a slap in the face.
They’re out there on the ground, working to keep the border secure on a limited budget, and now their own department is spending resources on what they see as a campaign that undermines their mission. Bill Melugin, a journalist with Fox News Digital, reported that DHS insiders he spoke to are “outraged” over the billboards.
The outrage isn’t just coming from political circles. ICE and Border Patrol agents are openly expressing their frustration. According to Melugin, ICE sources described the billboards as “more than insulting.”
One Border Patrol agent, speaking anonymously, said, “This is so wrong.” The sentiment is clear — those on the front lines see this as a betrayal of their work and a waste of taxpayer money.
When pressed for an official response, DHS didn’t answer questions directly. Instead, they issued a vague statement on the history and purpose of the ombudsman’s office, saying that DHS employees “provide the highest standard of care for individuals who are detained.”
To ICE and Border Patrol agents, this feels like a tone-deaf response that ignores their very real concerns. It’s clear they don’t see these billboards as “standard care”; they see them as undermining their efforts to enforce the law.
It’s not just agents who are upset; lawmakers are furious too. Rep. Chip Roy (R-Texas) minced no words, calling the campaign “insane.” He warned that DHS’s actions are a “preview of the legal arguments that radical progressive democrats will use to argue against deportation of the millions dumped in America by Biden-Harris-Mayorkas.” In Roy’s view, Congress has no business funding what he calls “propaganda to undermine our own laws.”
Representative Tony Gonzales (R-Texas) chimed in as well, pointing out what he sees as misplaced priorities within the administration. “Whether it’s FEMA splurging hundreds of millions of dollars on migrant housing or OIDO running ads like this, our government is hemorrhaging money on the wrong priorities,” Gonzales said.
He emphasized that it’s time for Congress to put an end to programs like these that, in his opinion, encourage illegal immigration rather than secure the border.
These billboards represent more than just a questionable use of taxpayer money. They speak to a broader issue that many conservatives see in the Biden-Harris administration’s approach to immigration and border security.
To critics, this administration has blurred the lines between enforcement and assistance, creating policies that seem more focused on welcoming migrants than managing legal immigration channels. For many, this feels like the latest chapter in a presidency that has continually prioritized illegal immigration over the rule of law.
By advertising legal assistance to detained migrants, the administration sends a message that America’s borders and immigration laws are little more than guidelines. This has created a crisis where states and local communities bear the brunt of policy failures.
With lawsuits continuing to stack up and border states struggling with record-breaking numbers of illegal crossings, Biden’s DHS is feeling the pressure from all sides.
